Eligibility

Denton ISD’s full-day Head Start Program is located at the Ann Windle School for Young Children. It is a federally funded program for three and four-year-old economically disadvantaged children. Following state guidelines and curriculum, the focus of the program is to increase each student’s self-concept, developmental skills, and pre-academic skills. Families must meet federal income guidelines to qualify for Denton ISD’s Head Start Program at the Ann Windle School for Young Children. Homeless families, children in foster care, and recipients of TANF or SSI are also eligible.
For consideration, families will need to provide:

  • A valid driver’s license or identification card for the parent/guardian
  • Proof of income (previous year’s tax return, TANF, SSI, or four recent pay stubs)
  • Up-to-date immunization records
  • Proof of residency (utility bill or lease agreement)
  • Proof of medical insurance
  • Child’s birth certificate

Each spring, the Ann Windle School for Young Children hosts Head Start Recruitment and Pre-K Information Sessions to help families determine eligibility for the upcoming school year.
